Introduction
Madelyn Lazo Aspa, 31 years old this year, wants to apply as a domestic helper overseas to work for her 5 year old son's future. She wants to ensure her child has a bright future ahead of him. She is also applying to work overseas for her family, so that she can better their living standards and hopefully they can enjoy each day of life more when she is able to send money home to them.
Although Madelyn has never worked overseas before, she has worked as a domestic helper in the Philippines for 6 years. Her jobscope was being an all-rounder - ensuring the house is clean and is maintained that way, cooking meals for her employers, and taking care of her employer's clothes, etc. Though she did not have the experience of taking care of a child for her employer, she gained the experience of caring for young children or even babies with her younger siblings, her nephews and nieces, and her own child.
When asked about whether she can finish her contract, she said that she is determined and confident that she can finish her 2 years contract as her main priority in working overseas is earning money to send back to her family in the Philippines.
She hopes she will be given the opportunity to work in Singapore soon.
